Digestive Mishaps - Slimy Catch

Story Information

Smoke came from the building like it was its job. Unfortunately, smoking isn't a building's job, and in fact it was quite the opposite. A fire had broken out at the old Castro-Morales apartments, making it a rather inhospitable place to live. That said the fire wasn't too unexpected. It was a pretty old building and has been known for some close-calls in the past. So, when the fire department heard the building was on fire, they were there pretty fast. So was the rest of the neighborhood. Soon enough, bystanders were blocked off, life nets were set up, and water was being pumped into the building by the liters.

One Alejandro Vasquez was part of this audience. He was in the back, watching the arc of water shoot across the building and a few people get escorted out by firemen. His attention was drawn away by something else, something green down the alley to his left. Not in the alley, but on the edge of the building above it. Walking down the alleyway, he could barely make out a green silhouette standing on some edge about five stories up. He looked back towards the street, trying and failing to get someone's attention. He looked back up. She was about to jump. It was up to him to try and break her fall.

Looking up and strafing with his arms outstretched, he tried to judge where she would land. Some fifteen years of playing baseball would help here, allowing him to easily make an accurate prediction. As she leapt and began to fall, he tried his best to steady himself for the catch. Even the lightest person was heavy, and he didn't want to hurt both of them trying to catch her. Stance wide, arms out, and eyes locked on her, he watched her fall directly onto him. Her body got closer and closer, taking up his entire vision, until finally…

            Shplurt

Alejandro had been knocked down on his ass but wasn't holding anything in his arms. Or at least, not as he expected. All around him-- on his arms, around his legs, above his head-- was a gelatinous, green substance. It had the same hue as the lady he had just seen jump from above, but now it engulfed him. He looked up, wondering if someone had dropped something on him, but nobody was up there. Groaning slightly, he attempted to move his arms out of the mess but encountered much more resistance than he expected. It was thick, whatever the substance was. Instead, he tried to get up, but found himself pretty solidly stuck to the concrete of the alleyway. His head was able to rotate in the slime, which allowed him to turn barely enough to see that nobody was looking down the alley.

Opening his mouth, he let out a very muffled shout for help. It was like screaming underwater, but he was glad the slime didn't rush to fill his mouth. He turned back to a more comfortable position, getting somewhat anxious now. What had happened? What was around him? Was it… that lady he saw? He shook his head and remembered he had one more option: his phone. But looking down at his pocket, he could see it was floating next to his leg. The former location of the pocket was now a hole revealing his boxers and bare skin below, with that hole growing bigger as the edge seemingly flaked away into nothingness. He hoped this didn't mean what he thought it meant.

It took a while, but the slime lady finally woke up. A yawning head rose from a puddle, taking a look at her surroundings. It was sunset, light barely peeking down the street. The building next to her was blackened and she immediately perked up and shouted, "My apartment!" The rest of her body forming instantly, she jumped to her feet before realizing something was off. She weighed different, somehow. Looking down, she immediately noticed that too much slime was hanging off her body, manifesting like flab. Something dark and rectangular was inside her… She dug her hand into herself and pulled it back out. "This isn't my phone." Taking another moment to realize and remember what this meant, she finished with "...Oh shit."
