Wanting Something Green

Story Information

You are now the WAYWARD VAGABOND. It has been a long and difficult journey to where you are. Which is on a long and difficult journey somewhere else. You are in some kind of meteor lab from a different Veil, flying into the deep unknowns of a clusterfuck void. Fortunately, you've been preoccupying yourself with the MAYORAL DUTIES of CAN TOWN.

Dave Human has been keeping you company too, as well as Karkat Vantas and your old friend, Serenity the firefly. Serenity can't lift cans, but the other two do a great job of helping Can Town expand further than ever before. Though sometimes they get locked into arguments which go on for a long time with confusing beginnings, middles, and ends. Still, you're proud of how far Can Town has come.

Your stomach rumbles. You have been maintaining a diet of alchemized pumpkins, some other small plants you see, and Tab soda, but you still wish you had something big and green to eat. You miss the days of farming your own crops, though without the monarchy and war. It's hard to communicate your wants with the other people on the meteor, unfortunately. You drum your pointy digits on a can as you think about what to eat.

Unfortunately, food will have to wait apparently. Rose Girl shows up and says, "There's another dream bubble on the way. We should be in it in a few minutes, so come on up." Dave stands up and complains about the short notice in his funny ironic way you don't really understand. That said, you put down your can and follow Dave out. The bubbles are a confusing place and you prefer to be with the group when the meteor enters one.

You stand outside the meteor, holding Dave's hand. You stare ahead out into the void of the outer ring, not an unfamiliar sight really. Then, a green-outlined bubble comes into view. The bubble's slight color makes your stomach growl a little, but then the bubble grows and grows as the meteor approaches. Eventually, it's much bigger than the meteor, which pops through the outer layer without a hitch.

Gradually, your surroundings become different. The meteor's flooring becomes a gradient into some land of green dirt and red rivers that you've never seen before. Rose briefs everyone on safety practices again and you don't really pay attention to it, but it's fine. Dave lets go of your hand and you let go of his and start to wander a little. There's never much of interest for you in these, since carapacians don't usually appear. You wish you could see your... friend, the PEREGRINE MENDICANT again. At least you have Serenity.

You watch as Dave flies off to go see something, waving at you. You wave back. Looking at where the group was, pretty much everyone has wandered off on their own, so you may as well too. You walk off in some random direction, which is to say any of them since the dream bubbles make no sense to you. The ground you're on eventually transitions into a black and white checkered field, which you recognize well enough. The Battlefield. Fortunately, it's deserted. Much more peaceful than the real one.

You keep on walking until you notice something green. Very green. You can't tell what it is from a distance, but it is green and you're very hungry. It's on the edge of a hill, which you eagerly scurry up. You haven't moved so fast in a while. Serenity even struggles to keep up, certainly complaining something in blinking behind you. When you reach the green greenery, you realize something's amiss.

The greenery says, "1 COULD H34R YOU RUNN1NG UP H3R3 TH3 WHOL3 T1M3, H4RDSH3LL!" You freeze as she turns around. It's Terezi Troll. She's wearing a green version of Rose's costume and seems different, but she looks similar and has the same voice and sunglasses. "NOT WH4T YOU 3XP3CT3D?" Your stomach growls yet again, annoyed at the greenery not being a plant. Still, you can't help but drool a little behind your hood. "YOU SOUND HUNGRY. GU3SS YOU SHOULD H4V3 EATEN ON TH3 M3T3OR W1TH 4LPH4 T3R3Z1 4ND 3V3RYON3 B3FOR3 G3TT1NG H3R3 H3H3H3."

You ignore the taunting part, but the "alpha Terezi" line made you realize something. She's not your Terezi. You can't tell if she's dead or not with her red glasses on, but you guess she's probably a ghost. You briefly ponder if ghosts can provide nutritional value, but then realize you don't care. You're very hungry for something big and green. You shuffle a little closer. She says, "SORRY L1TTL3 GUY, BUT 1 DONT H4V3 4NY FOOD. 1M NOT SUR3 FOOD GROWS OUT H3R3?" You nod a little. She turns away and wistfully looks out towards the Battlefield. "1 C4N T3LL YOU TH1S S1NC3 YOU WONT T3LL 4NYON3, BUT 1 M1SS3D S331NG 4LL YOU GUYS. 1 MOSTLY ONLY S4W PROSP1T4NS THOUGH. 1 COULDNT ST4R3 4T TH3 CLOUDS V3RY W3LL, BUT MY M1ND POW3RS US3D TO WORK B3TT3R. 1 GU3SS B31NG 1N TH3 FURTH3ST R1NG R34LLY MRPHNPH?!"

She was talking a lot of stuff about things you don't really understand or care about, but while she did that you finally figured out your course of action. You simply pulled down your hood, opened your mouth as wide as you could, and brought it down over her head. Her green clothes are as tasty as you imagined! They taste better than all the crops you grew, pumpkins you ate, or soda you drank. You guess this must be why the Prospitans worshipped the Heroes so much. Their clothes are really yummy.

Unfortunately, the lady wearing them isn't as tasty, but you didn't think you could eat her clothes without her. Despite that, your gray tongue lapping her face is picking up quite the savory flavor unlike any plant you've had before. You would bite into her if you could, just to explore, but unfortunately you have very weak and flat teeth made for plants. So the easiest thing to do is swallow her whole. Which you do, pulling her head and hood into your throat.

Her lower half kicks rather vigorously while her hands fly around and try to grab at random parts of your body. But you are a very hungry carapacian and she is not hard-shelled so you think you can hang on. You gulp again and you can feel your throat bulging out from her. You didn't think about whether or not she could fit inside you before, but you bet she can. Just to help though, you grab both of her arms and hold them steady at her sides.

The rest of her costume continues to taste divine. You run into a little more skin when you reach her hands, but you don't mind now. Meat's pretty tasty, actually. As you squeeze her down, you can see Serenity blinking something at you furiously, hovering over Terezi's legs. You don't know what --- .... / -- -.-- / --. --- -.. / ... - --- .--. / . .- - .. -. --. / .... . .-. means, but you probably wouldn't care if you did. You stick your tongue out a little and keep on swallowing Terezi whole.

Finally, you reach the end of your big meal. You remove her shoes and slurp up her feet, getting one last meaty bonus before sending her down to your belly. You sit back after finishing, panting a little from the satisfaction. You look down at your middle. To your surprise, your carapace is doing a good job of being inflexible. You can feel her inside you, struggling rather pleasantly, but your shell's only distorted slightly, enough to part the rags wrapping your body some. Shiny black carapace peeks out from gaps, with no struggles from your meal beneath visible.

Serenity hovers directly in front of your face while you sit and rub your tummy some. She's blinking a lot of patterns that you imagine are probably rather disapproving, but you've never felt so full in your life. Maybe a little sick though...? You feel something come up and open your mouth, releasing a loud belch right onto Serenity. Her blinking sputters some and it seems like she needs to take a rest after that. She lands on your shoulder dizzily. You smile simply, basking in the feeling of fullness.

The Terezi in your belly keeps complaining and struggling, but it doesn't feel like she's going to get out. In fact, your stomach sounds more than eager to deal with the large meal! Its growling has changed to a pleased gurgling and its rumbling to a dedicated churning. With your hand on your stomach, you can feel her struggling slowing down as she starts to digest. You wouldn't have thought you could digest meat before today, but you're glad you tried. You'll certainly be very satisfied for a while after this.

After your lunch accepts its role some more, you decide to head back to where the meteor should be. The trip back is shorter, for whatever bizarre reason, but you're glad since it means less walking with your somewhat heavier self. When you get there, everyone else is there too. Seems like you came back just in time for the end of the dream bubble. Dave notices you first and waves, then notices your carapace poking out a little. You pull your hood back up as you approach.

"hey mayor, you find some good eats?" he says, poking your shell. You nod, rather pleased. Then Terezi, the one you know, comes up. She grins and says, "YOU SUR3 DO SM3LL GR33N! 34T 4 TR33?" You shake your head, though you also try to suppress any burps that might come up. You know she has a very good sense of smell, but you hope she doesn't know. "1TS OK4Y M4YOR, 1 WONT T3LL 4NYON3 YOUR 34T1NG H4B1TS >;]" Her statement leaves you unsure, but you guess she probably doesn't know. You're very crafty and smart after all. After a little more hanging around, your group exits the dream bubble and is once again just sailing on a meteor through the black of nothing.

As everyone heads back inside, you take a moment to find somewhere private and get something out of you that's been trying to escape. You find a dark corner and burp into your hood, though you feel something come up too. You pull down your hood slightly and pull red glasses out of your mouth, cracked a bit from your stomach's rough movements. On that note, you shake your middle a little and feel that it's very soft. Your belly sloshes around with liquid contents, all that's left of the Seer of Mind.

You smile once again, still feeling so pleasurably full, and turn to leave. But before you do, you hear some distant clock toll. It's hard to place its location, though it sounds important. You're looking around for the sound when you feel a great warmth from within. You look down and see your stomach glowing brightly with all sorts of colors, which makes you rather alarmed! Serenity blinks something at you while you scurry around in a panic.

Then it suddenly stops glowing. But your belly feels rather solid again. You drum on your shell, confused at what's happening. As you do, you hear other Terezi again, complaining and kicking. You grin widely and toothily behind your hood as you realize what happened. She must have not been dead after all! And she's a god, of course! She can't die unless it's heroic or just, and being digested as a meal for a mildly hungry carapacian with a hankering for green isn't really either.

You think you might be the smartest carapacian to have ever lived. You've found an endless supply of food, just for you! Nobody else will even suspect it, since they have to touch your shell to get a feeling of what's going on underneath. You rub your tummy rather happily as your digestion starts up all over again. You'll have lots of energy for Can Town now. And this should make your journeys less difficult and more pleasurable.
